Google Updates Its Listing Data, for Freshness
In an effort to provide the freshest search results Google is adding a bit of information to its search engine results pages. Google, or any engine for that matter, works hard to keep its data as fresh as possible. Given the size of the Internet and the rate of websites being added or deleted, this is an enormous challenge. Also consider the different mediums being searched through, such as blogs, RSSs, PDFs, DOCs and XLSs to name but a few.
Given these challenges, it should not be hard for the person making the Google search to find the freshest content. And thus Google's new Fresh Results display.
As an example, when searching for "2007 hurricane season", the listing as seen in the image example displays a result with an added " - 7 hours ago". Other listings may have a date instead. This provides a quick and easy way to select the most current information, which is especially useful when searching for time critical data such as stock listings, damage reports or housing prices.
This feature is still being implemented and is not seen everywhere that would be applicable as yet. But for those needing the most current data available this should be a very powerful tool.
