Del.icio.us Social Bookmarking

Del.icio.us (pronounced as "delicious") is an online bookmarking service. As such, Del.icio.us provides a convenient way of keeping your bookmarks in one easy to manage location that can be used from any computer running any operating system using any browser. Your bookmarks page stays the same at work, at home and from any location while abroad.

The Social aspect of Del.icio.us Bookmarking allows you to share your bookmarks with other members of the Del.icio.us community, even grouping the data of all users showing the current latest additions so that everyone has the opportunity to visit any site that any member deems worthy of sharing. This is NOT the place to store private bookmarks. If a grown man does not want his work mates to know that he frequents knitting sites then be careful which sites you include on your Del.icio.us account.

Google's involvement with Del.icio.us is why I mention this service. One of the many filters that Google uses gives Del.icio.us pages a priority placement spot on the search engine result pages (SERPs). When clicking on the SERP link a Del.icio.us bookmarks page is displayed allowing the visitor to then travel directly to your chosen websites. I would recommend having your own Del.icio.us account with your website(s) placed prominently above the rest of your list.

As is the case with any Google optimization tactic, this may not provide a noticeable difference in your sites' placement. But, it could help maybe a bit and it will provide an additional location for visibility. Every a little bit helps.
